Backrest Cover And Cushion, Removing And Installing, Standard/Sport Seat: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fasten the front seat on the : VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD/SPORT SEAT .
-- Remove the tunnel-side seat side trim. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON TUNNEL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the seat side trim on side sill side
- Front seat manual. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL FRONT SEAT .
- Power front seat. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER FRONT SEAT .
-- Free up the wiring harness for the thorax airbag and the backrest heating (depending on the version) from the seat pan. Refer to FRONT SEAT WIRE ROUTING .
-- Remove the front backrest. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disengage the lower cover -1- from the backrest hinge -arrows-.
-- Pull the cover tabs -1 and 3- upward -arrows- and disengage the molding -2- on the cover.
-- Detach the lower moldings -4- from the backrest frame.
-- Disengage the cover clamping strip -1- from the backrest frame -arrow-.
-- Remove the backrest release trim. Refer to BACKREST RELEASE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disengage the hook -arrows- of the cover with the cushion from the backrest release -2-.
-- Disengage the cushion -1- with cover -2- at the lower section of the backrest -arrows-.
-- Carefully loosen the cushion from the backrest frame and pull as far forward as possible.
-- Remove the front thorax airbag. Refer to FRONT THORAX AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- If installed, remove the neck heating vent. Refer to NECK HEATING VENTS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disengage the cover from the air duct and push to the side.
-- Unclip the air duct -1- from the neck heating, to do so release and disengage the rear catches -arrows- using the : T40207 .
-- Disengage the air duct -1- on the front locking tab -arrows- and engage loosely in the cushion.
-- Remove the cushion with the cover upward from the backrest frame, at the same time remove the cushion -1- all around carefully under the backrest frame -2- -arrows-.
-- Remove the cushion and cover from the backrest frame, depending on the version guide the wiring harness for the backrest heating.
