Cylinder Head, Removing And Installing: Removing
Depending on the model preliminary work may be required. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CVKB, DBPA, CWNA, CVLA, DEMA, DHDA] .
During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.
-- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery terminal. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the Throttle Valve Control Module -GX3-. Refer to THROTTLE VALVE CONTROL MODULE -GX3-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove the nut -arrow- and move the bracket -1- and wiring harness to the side.
-- Remove the bolt -2-.
Place a cloth underneath to catch any escaping engine oil.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and then remove the oil return hose.
-- Remove the heat shield -arrows-.
-- Remove the bolt -2- and the oil supply line.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows-, and remove the turbocharger from the stud bolts.
-- Remove the right coolant pipe bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the connectors -2 and 3- from the bracket and disconnect.
-- Disconnect the connectors -4 and 5-.
-- Remove the bolts -1- from the bracket.
-- Disconnect the connectors -1, 2 and 3-.
-- Remove the nut -2- and bolt -1- and remove the intake manifold support.
-- If necessary, release and disconnect the connector for the Fuel Pressure Sensor -G247- with the :T10118 .
Vehicles with Generator:
-- Disconnect the connectors and free up the wires.
1 - For Oil Pressure Switch -F22- -2-
3 - For Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378- -4-
5 - For Piston Cooling Nozzle Control Valve -N522- -7-
Vehicles with Starter Generator:
-- Disconnect The Connectors:
- For the Oil Pressure Switch -F22-
- For the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378-
- For the Piston Cooling Nozzle Control Valve -N522-
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the rear coolant hose.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- for the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -G62-.
-- Remove the spark plugs with the :3122B .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the cylinder head bolts with the :T10070 or :T40270 in the sequence -1 through 10-.
Check if all hose and line connections are loosened.
-- Remove the cylinder head.
-- Lay the cylinder head on a soft surface, such as foam.
Seal the open channels of the intake and exhaust tract with a clean cloth or with completely clean plugs from the :VAS6122 .
