Transmission Fluid Cooler, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

Risk of burning due to hot steam and hot coolant.

When engine is warm, the cooling system is under pressure.
Reduce pressure by cover coolant expansion tank cap with cloths and carefully opening.

-- Remove the cap -arrow- from the coolant reservoir.

Vehicles with a TFSI Engine:

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER [CZRA] or AIR FILTER [CNTC]

-- Remove the noise insulation -1-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1-, remove the air duct hose from the charge air cooler.

NOTE:

Ignore -2-.

-- Vehicles with a left auxiliary cooler: Free up the coolant hose -3-.

-- Free up the wiring harness -1 and 2- from the air guide pipe.

-- Loosen the screw-type clamp -4-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the air guide pipe.

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

NOTE:

Use a cloth to catch any leaking coolant.

-- Clamp off coolant hoses on transmission oil cooler with Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm :3094 .

-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows-, remove the coolant hoses from the transmission fluid cooler.

-- Remove the bolts -1- and set aside the Transmission Coolant Valve -N488-.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set :VAS6122 .

Vehicles with TDI Engine:

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER [CZRA] or AIR FILTER [CNTC]

-- Clamp off coolant hoses on transmission oil cooler with Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm :3094 and remove from cooler.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set :VAS6122 .

All Vehicles

-- Remove bolts -A-.

-- Remove transmission fluid cooler -B- with both O-rings -C- from transmission.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of contaminating the transmission.

Coolant must not drip into transmission!
