Drive Axle, Inner CV Joint 100 Mm (3.93 In.) Diameter - Bolted

Filling Joints with Grease

1 - Outer CV Joint
- Replace only as complete unit
- Checking. Refer to OUTER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
- Removing. Refer to REMOVING
- Installing. Refer to 100 MM (3.93 IN.) INNER CV JOINT, SERVICING
- When installing joint on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint
2 - Bolt
- 200 Nm + 180° turn
- Always replace if removed
- Loosening and tightening. Refer to DRIVE AXLE THREADED CONNECTION, LOOSENING AND TIGHTENING .
- Before installing, clean the threads in the CV joint with a tap
3 - Profile Shaft
4 - Clamp
- Tensioning. Refer to Figure
- Always replace if removed
5 - CV Boot for Outer CV Joint
- Check for tears and scuffing
6 - Clamp
- Tensioning. Refer to Figure
- Always replace if removed
7 - Plate Spring
- Installed position. Refer to Figure
8 - Spacer Ring (Plastic)
- Installed position. Refer to Figure
9 - Locking Ring
- Always replace if removed
- Insert in shaft groove
10 - Protective Boot for Inner CV Joint
- Check for tears and scuffing
- Drive off CV joint using drift
- Before mounting on CV joint, coat the sealing surface using sealant
11 - Clamp
- Tensioning. Refer to Figure
- Always replace if removed
12 - Locking Plate
13 - Internal Multi-Point Bolt
- Pre-tightening specification: diagonal sequence to 10 Nm
- M8 tightening specification: 40 Nm and diagonally
- M10 tightening specification: 70 Nm and diagonally
- Always replace if removed
14 - Locking Ring
- Always replace if removed
- Remove and install using Circlip Pliers :VW161A . Refer to Figure .
15 - Seal
- Bonding surface on CV joint must be free of grease and oil!
16 - Inner CV Joint
- Replace only as complete unit
- Checking. Refer to INNER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
- Removing and installing. Refer to INNER CV JOINT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- When installing joint on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint
17 - Plate Spring
- Installed position. Refer to Figure
