Safety Precautions When Working On Exhaust System
Do not remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor - risk of injury.
There is a risk of injury due to disconnecting the exhaust system
Eye irritation possible from flying rust particles.
-- Wear protective eyewear.
Risk of poisoning due to exhaust
Parking/auxiliary heater produce poisonous exhaust. Injury to the respiratory system and possible poisoning are possible.
-- In closed areas only turn on the parking/auxiliary heater with the exhaust extraction.
-- In closed areas without exhaust extraction turn of the parking/auxiliary heater.
Risk of damaging the coupling
Improper handling can cause the coupling to become damaged or to leak.
-- Coupling must not be bent more than 10°.
-- Do not load the coupling on the cable.
There is a risk of injury due to the exhaust system components
It is possible to injure hands and other parts of the body due to hot and sharp-edged components in the exhaust system.
-- Allow the exhaust system to cool.
-- Wear safety gloves.
Risk of poisoning due to chemical materials
Exhaust gas temperature sensor contains chemical materials. It is possible to injure the respiratory system and be poisoned.
-- Never cut, saw or open the exhaust gas temperature sensor.
Risk of injury due to hot condensation and particles in the exhaust system.
Hot condensation and/or particles may be in the exhaust system. It is possible for eye and skin injury as well as respiratory system injury and poisoning to occur.
-- When performing separating procedures on the exhaust system, wear safety gloves and protective eyewear.
-- Use an exhaust extracting system for separating procedures or make sure there is enough ventilation.
