Transmission, Installing: Procedure
-- Mount the transmission on the : 3282 and secure it.
-- Clean the input shaft splines and the hub, remove any corrosion and apply only a very thin coating of lubricant on the splines. Refer to the Parts information. Remove any excess grease.
-- Check if the alignment sleeves -A- for centering the engine/transmission are in the cylinder block and insert them if they are not.
-- Check the needle bearing -arrow- in the crankshaft. Replace if required. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING [For engine(s) CRUA, DEJA] or CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] .
- If this needle bearing in the crankshaft is damaged, the gears are no longer able to shift correctly because the clutch is supported at this bearing.
-- Carefully raise the transmission using the : VAS6931 and bring it into the installation position using the : 3282 .
-- Insert the transmission without pinching any lines.
-- Attach the transmission to the engine.
- The bolt -3- is only accessible via the opening for the removed starter.
-- Adjust the assembly mount. Refer to SUBFRAME MOUNT [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] .
-- Remove the: 3282 from the transmission.
-- Remove the: 10-222A from the engine.
- Introduce the pin of the bevel box carefully in the flange for the driveshaft.
-- Push the engine/transmission assembly toward the plenum chamber bulkhead while carefully guiding the bevel box pins into the driveshaft flange.
Tip
- Some vehicle connectors for the Mechatronic are equipped with a clip which holds the connector in the end position after locking. When loosing the connector the bracket from the clip can break. If the bracket from the clip is broken, the clip must be replaced.
-- Replace the clip on the vehicle connector, if equipped. Refer to CLIP ON VEHICLE CONNECTOR, REPLACING .
-- Connect the connector -1- to the Mechatronic and turn it all the way to lock it in place. On connectors with clip the bracket of the clip -2- must engage behind the hook from the connector in direction of -arrow-.
-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to appropriate service information. .
-- Tighten the bolts for the bevel box bracket. Refer to OVERVIEW - BEVEL BOX .
-- Install the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME .
-- Install the starter. Refer to STARTER .
-- Install the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY .
-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER[For engine(s) CRUA, DEJA] for TDI or AIR FILTER[For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] for TFSI.
-- Fill with coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] .
-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
If the Transmission is Replaced, the "Replace Control Module" Function Must be Performed Using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Select Individual test on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
