General Information: Transmission

The flywheel transfers the engine torque to the dual clutch. The flywheel and the dual clutch are connected to each other via splines. Together they take over the function of the dual mass flywheel.
The transmission is built like a 6-speed manual transmission. The alternating hydraulic actuation of the two multi-plate dry clutches permits operation similar to that of an automatic transmission. This means that the gears are engaged automatically or manually with the Tiptronic mode. There is no clutch pedal.
Both clutches are open when the ignition is switched off. 1st gear on sub-transmission 1 and reverse gear on sub-transmission 2 are engaged.
