Selector Mechanism
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2017 Audi S3, 2017 Audi A3 Quattro, 2016 Audi S3, 2016 Audi A3 Quattro, and 2016 Audi A3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
In contrast to an automatic transmission, the selector lever position is no longer transmitted mechanically to the transmission via the selector lever cable and the multifunction transmission range switch (drive position sensor). The selector lever positions and shifts are transmitted via a separate control module in the selector mechanism to the transmission control module via the CAN bus. Shifting occurs without a cable. The selector lever cable mechanically brings the parking lock into the selector lever position "P".
