Driver Side Airbag Crash Sensor -G179- / Front Passenger Side Airbag Crash Sensor -G180-, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

-- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING (A3 / A3 CABRIOLET) .

-- Remove the front door trim panel, refer to FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

WARNING:

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

-- Pull out the connector lock -2- and push down -arrow-, disconnect the connector -1- on the crash sensor.

-- Release the locking mechanism -2- and turn the retainer -1- for the crash sensor approximately 45° counterclockwise -arrow-.

-- Disengage the side airbag crash sensor -3- from the door and remove.
