Airbag Control Module -J234-, Removing And Installing: Removing

Follow all pyrotechnic components safety precautions, refer to PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING (A3 / A3 CABRIOLET) .

-- Remove the center console, refer to CENTER CONSOLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the front bracket for the center console on the driver and passenger side, refer to CENTER CONSOLE BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the nut -3- in the front footwell.

WARNING:

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.

-- Disconnect the connector in the passenger footwell, to do this release the connector catches, and open the securing clip -5- on the connector -arrow-.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 4-.

-- Carefully lift the Airbag Control Module -J234- -2- from the threaded pins and remove to the passenger side.
