Pinpoint Test H : The Windshield Washer Is Always On

  1. H1 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WASHER SWITCH (FRONT) (F_WASH_SW) PID

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the SCCM PIDs.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the SCCM F_WASH_SW PID.

    Does the PID indicate the windshield washer switch active? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to Steering Column Switches . If the concern is still present, INSTALL a new SCCM. REFER to Steering Column Switches .
    No  GO to  H2.

  2. H2 CHECK THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WASHER PUMP SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor C1656 .
    • Ignition ON.

    Does the washer pump continue to operate? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit.
    No  INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor - Windshield .
