DTC B2799: Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Start the hybrid control system.
    2. Wait 10 seconds or more.
    3. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2013 - ] .

      HINT: 

      Before checking for DTCs, perform the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" procedure.

      OK

      DTC B2799 is not output.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (DTC B2799 is output) B
      NG (Other DTCs are output) C

  3. INSPECT POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (TERMINAL IMO) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Item Content
      Tester Connection H2-20 (IMO) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Within 3 seconds of hybrid control system start, or within 3 seconds of power switch turned on (IG) after auxiliary battery cable disconnected and reconnected

      OK

      The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Normal waveform A
      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) B
      Terminal IMO stuck high (12 V) or Abnormal waveform C

  4. INSPECT POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (TERMINAL IMI) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

  5. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Reregister the ECU communication ID. Refer to REGISTRATION [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts with an already registered vehicle key.

      OK

      Hybrid control system starts normally.

    NG → See step   12 

    OK → END (COMMUNICATION ID REGISTRATION WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  7. INSPECT POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (IMO TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the H2 power management control ECU connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) A
      Terminal IMO stuck high (12 V) B

    A: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - ID CODE BOX AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H15 ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the H2 power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H15-3 (EFII) - H2-20 (IMO) Always Below 1 Ω
      H2-20 (IMO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H15-4 (EFIO) - H2-21 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      H2-21 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. REPLACE ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU) 
    1. Replace the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU). Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  10. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Reregister the ECU communication ID. Refer to REGISTRATION [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts with an already registered vehicle key.

      OK

      Hybrid control system starts normally.

    NG → See step   17 

    OK → END (ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU) WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  12. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Temporarily replace the power management control ECU with a new one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  13. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Reregister the ECU communication ID. Refer to REGISTRATION [08/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts with an already registered vehicle key.

      OK

      Hybrid control system starts normally.

    NG → See step   18 

    OK → END (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  15. GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2013 - ] 
  16. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2013 - ] 
  17. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  18. REPLACE ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]
