DTC P3107-214: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   14 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) See step   2 

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CLEAR DTC. Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 4 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P3107-214 is not output. A
      P3107-214 is output again. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   12 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [08/2013 - ]

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   12 

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 3 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the airbag sensor assembly connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (+B SHORT) 
    1. Remove the PM IGCT fuse from the No. 2 engine room relay block.

      *2 PM IGCT Fuse
    2. Remove the AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 3 fuse from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

    3. Disconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A31-2 (+B2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A33-5 (+B1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H1-1 (AM22) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H2-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A33-6 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A33-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H2-1 (ACCD) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H2-2 (IG1D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A33-2 (IG2D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H1-14 (SPDI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A31-16 (GI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Reconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    6. Install the PM IGCT fuse, AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 3 fuse.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the H1 power management control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H36-14 (GSW2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H1-29 (ABFS) or H36-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      As necessary, check that there is no short to power supply wires when performing the above wire harness inspection.

    4. Reconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the H1 power management control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Disconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H1-29 (ABFS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the airbag sensor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Reconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    NG → See step   12 

    OK → See step   13 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRES) 
    1. Remove the PM IGCT fuse from the No. 2 engine room relay block.

      *2 PM IGCT Fuse
    2. Remove the AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 3 fuse from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

    3. Disconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    4. Disconnect the A31, A33, H1 and H2 power management control ECU connectors.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      H1-29 (ABFS) - A31-2 (+B2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A33-5 (+B1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H1-1 (AM22) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - H2-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A33-6 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      H1-29 (ABFS) - A33-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    6. Reconnect the A31, A33, H1 and H2 power management control ECU connectors.
    7. Reconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    8. Install the PM IGCT fuse, AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 3 fuse.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   12 

  12. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2013 - ] 
  13. REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2013 - ] 
  14. GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2013 - ]
