DTC P0C76-523: Hybrid Battery System Discharge Time Too Long [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0C76-523 only is output, or DTCs except the ones in the table below are also output. A

      HINT: 

      • *1: If any INF codes are output for this DTC, refer to the corresponding diagnostic procedure.
      • P0C76-523 may be stored due to a malfunction which causes the DTCs in the preceding table to be stored. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the preceding table. Then, perform a reproduction test to check that no DTCs are output.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. A
      P0C76-523 only is output, or DTCs except the ones in the table below are also output. B

      HINT: 

      When the DTCs listed in the preceding table are also output, there may be a short between the HSDN (MG shut down signal) circuit and power circuit.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A33-31 (HSDN) - H1-6 (E1) Power switch on (IG) Below 4.5 V

      (Power Management Control ECU)
    3. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   7 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A14 inverter with converter assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the A33 power management control ECU connector.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    5. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A33-31 (HSDN) or A14-40 (HSDN) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Power Management Control ECU)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Inverter with Converter Assembly)
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    7. Turn the power switch off.
    8. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A33-31 (HSDN) - A33-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A33-31 (HSDN) - A33-2 (IG2D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A33-31 (HSDN) - A33-5 (+B1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A33-31 (HSDN) - A33-6 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A14-40 (HSDN) - A14-30 (+B) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A14-40 (HSDN) - A14-31 (+B2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    10. Reconnect the A14 inverter with converter assembly connector.
    11. Reconnect the A33 power management control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A14 inverter with converter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A14-40 (HSDN) - A14-30 (+B) Power switch off 5 kΩ or higher
      A14-40 (HSDN) - A14-31 (+B2) Power switch off 5 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Inverter with Converter Assembly)
    4. Reconnect the A14 inverter with converter assembly connector.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2013 - ] 
  7. REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2013 - ] 
  8. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2013 - ]
