Brake Caliper, Removing And Installing, Front Brakes, TTRS And Ceramic Brakes: Removing

The bolts -arrows- on the brake caliper for the brake carrier -1- and the tension strut -2- may not be loosened.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of malfunction.

  • The bolts -arrows- on the brake caliper for the brake carrier -1- and the tension strut -2- may not be loosened.
CAUTION:

If brake pads are ceramics, wheel must not fall on brake rotor, otherwise it will be irreparably damaged. To install/remove wheel, install two assembly pins from vehicle tool kit in mounts on wheel bolts. The long assembly pin is in the upper position.

-- Remove the affected front wheel. Refer to Wheels and Tires .

-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the brake pad wear sensor on the right brake caliper.

NOTE:

Ignore -item 2-.

NOTE:

For easier removal of the brake caliper from the brake rotor, push the brake pads -3 and 4- back lightly with pliers -1-. To prevent damage to the coating on the brake caliper, place a piece of rubber -2- or similar between the pliers and brake caliper.

-- Unscrew the bolts -arrows- and carefully remove the brake caliper with the brake pads from the brake rotor.

CAUTION:
  • Do not let the brake caliper hang on the brake hose. Do not support the weight with the brake hose.
  • Replace the brake hose if damaged.
  • Do not press the brake pedal when the brake caliper is removed.
WARNING:
  • Do not damage the brake hose and brake line.
  • Do not bend the brake line past the specified form.
  • A damaged brake hose or a damaged or bent brake line must be replaced.

-- Hang the brake caliper on the body using a suitable wire.
