Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting

Procedure

NOTE:

If the windshield wiper motor is to run during the work procedure, the hood must be closed. Otherwise, the power supply to the wiper motor will be interrupted.

-- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Turn on the ignition.

-- Activate "one-touch wiping" and let the windshield wiper motor run into its end position.

NOTE:

Every second time the windshield wiper motor is switched off, it returns to a lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lip the other way.

To do so, the windshield wiper motor moves downward past the end position and then goes back up again slightly. This lower rest position must not be used to align the windshield wiper crank.

Only use the end position where the windshield wiper motor runs directly into the end position with no under-stroke. If necessary, activate "one-touch wiping" again.

-- Turn off the ignition.

-- Position the windshield wiper arm with the mounted wiper blade on the windshield wiper axle and align the wiper blade on the windshield as follows:

Side	Adjustment Dimension -a- in mm
Driver side	43⁺⁷
Front passenger side	36 ⁺⁷

NOTE:

The dimension -a- is measured from the wiper blade mounting point on the windshield wiper arm (center of the wiper blade) up to the black cowl panel trim -1- on the lower edge of the windshield -3-.

-- Tighten the nuts -2- for the windshield wiper arms -1-.

-- Turn on the ignition.

-- Activate "one-touch wiping" and let the windshield wiper arms run into their end position.

-- Turn off the ignition.

-- Check the wiper arm adjustment one more time and adjust if necessary.

-- Press the caps -arrows- onto the windshield wiper arms.
