Overview - Microphone Unit, Roadster

The microphone unit is comprised of the Microphone Unit in Front Roof Module -R164- and the Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886- with the seat belt microphone.

The Microphone Unit In Front Roof Module -R164- in installed in the Front Interior Lamp -W1-. Up to three microphones may be installed, depending on the equipment.

One microphone (Interior Microphone -R74-) is connected directly to the Digital Sound System Control Module -J525-. The other microphone (Telephone Microphone -R38-) is connected with the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-.

The Microphone Unit In Front Roof Module -R164- located in the Front Interior Lamp -W1- can only be replaced as a complete unit. It is not possible to replace individual microphones (Interior Microphone -R74- or Telephone Microphone -R38-).

2. Right Seat Belt Microphone
   • Cannot be replaced individually
   • Refer to FRONT THREE-POINT SEAT BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
3. Left Seat Belt Microphone
   • Cannot be replaced individually
   • Refer to FRONT THREE-POINT SEAT BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

   • Connector assignment. Refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
   • Removing and installing. Refer to SEAT BELT MICROPHONE CONTROL MODULE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Removing and installing. Refer to Microphone Unit in Front Roof Module -R164-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

The Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886- is located under the center console. The seat belt microphone and the Telephone Microphone -R38- is connected with the Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886-.

The Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886- evaluates the signal and transmits the best signal to the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-.
