Compression, Checking
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Spark Plug Removal Tool: 3122B
- Compression Tester Kit: VAG1763
- Compression Tester Kit - Adapter 13: VAG1763/13
Test Sequence
- Engine oil temperature at least 30 °C (86 °F).
- Battery voltage at least 12.7 V.
-- Remove the ignition coils. Refer to IGNITION COILS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connectors:
- For the FSI Fuel Injectors in the Cylinder Head
- For the MPI Fuel Injectors in the Intake Manifold
-- Remove the ignition coils. Refer to IGNITION COILS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the spark plugs with the : 3122B .
-- Install the : VAG1763/13 as shown in the respective spark plug hole and connect the : VAG1763 .
-- Check the compression using the : VAG1763 . Refer to the Operating instructions.
-- Press the accelerator pedal down all the way and operate the starter long enough until the tester no longer indicates an increase in pressure.
-- Repeat the procedure on each cylinder.

Assembling
-- Install the spark plugs. Refer to OVERVIEW - IGNITION SYSTEM .
-- Install the ignition coils. Refer to IGNITION COILS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Delete the DTC memory entries in the engine control module that have occurred during the test using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
