Bearing Bracket, Removing And Installing, Engine With Two Camshaft Adjusters: Removing

Preliminary work may be required depending on the model. Refer to BEARING BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- If not already removed, remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the upper timing chain cover. Refer to TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ENGINE WITH TWO CAMSHAFT ADJUSTERS .

• Pay attention to the direction of rotation: the control valves have left-hand threads - risk of damaging the threads.

Depending on the version of the control valve use one of the tools listed:

• : T10352B 
• : T10352/1A 
• : T10352/2 
• : T10352/3 
• : T10352/4 

-- Remove the left and right control valve in direction of -arrow-.

-- To do so, use the : T40263  , : T40314  and 24mm socket to counterhold the crankshaft at the vibration damper.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

• Carefully remove the bearing bracket without tilting - risk of damage.

-- Remove the bearing mount.

-- Remove the plug -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.

-- Install the : T40243  on the cylinder head -arrows lower-.

• A second technician is required for the following steps.

-- Press the chain tensioner circlip -1- together and hold it.

-- Slowly press and hold the : T40243  in direction of -arrow-.

• This will push back the chain tensioner.

TIP:

The chain tensioner is lubricated with oil and can only be pushed back slowly by applying constant pressure.

-- Lock the chain tensioner with the : T40267  .

-- Remove the : T40243  .
