Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable when the ignition is turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to LOCK CARRIER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolt -2-, and remove the Pedestrian Protection Center Crash Sensor -G693- -item 3- from the bumper.

WARNING:

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- To do this pull out the connector lock -2-, push down -arrow-, and disconnect the connector -1- on the crash sensor.
