Driver Side Knee Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
- Follow the allocation of the airbag unit to the instrument panel. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the instrument panel cover on the driver side. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -2-.
-- Remove the driver side knee airbag -1- rearward.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by briefly touching the door striker pin, for example.
-- Disconnect the connector -3- from the Driver Knee Airbag Igniter -N295-.
-- Open the connector lock -4- with a small screwdriver in direction of -arrow- and disconnect the connector.
Set the airbag down so the impact cushion faces upward.
