Driver Side Knee Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Installing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by briefly touching the door striker pin, for example.
- Follow the allocation of the airbag to the instrument panel. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Connect the connector -1- to the airbag igniter.
-- Press in the connector lock -2- in direction of -arrow-. While doing this, the connector is pushed into the airbag igniter all the way and locks.
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
Make sure the connectors are installed all the way and engage audibly.
Make sure the wires do not get caught.
There is a risk of causing damage to the surface of the knee airbag due to mechanical stress.
- After performing work visually inspect that the surface of the knee airbag is undamaged.
The ignition must be on when connecting the battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle interior when connecting the battery.
-- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting a connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
- Note the allocation of the airbag to the instrument panel. Refer to the Parts Information.
If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- signals a fault after installing, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
