Front Seat Wire Routing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture: VAS6136
Remove the Individual Wire:
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker pin, for example.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fasten the front seat on the : VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the rear bracket for the wire routing from the seat pan with a screwdriver.
-- Separate the cable holder -2 and 5- and cable tie -3 and 4-.
Replacing a faulty line or side airbag. Refer to WIRING HARNESSES, REPAIRING or refer to FRONT SIDE AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the individual wire from the protective cover -1-.
Modular Wire Routing:
-- Remove the rear bracket for the wire routing from the seat pan with a screwdriver.
-- Remove the cable holder -3, and 5- for the corrugated tube, to do this open the bracket.
-- Remove the wire -2- from the corrugated tube -1 and 4-.
Replacing a faulty line or side airbag. Refer to WIRING HARNESSES, REPAIRING or refer to FRONT SIDE AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Cut through the cable tie and remove the individual wire.
Installing the Individual Wire:
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker pin, for example.
- Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
-- When bundling and placing individual wires, make sure the wires are not twisted.
When installing, position all cable ties, cable holders and clips in same place.
Make sure the connectors are installed all the way and engage audibly.
