Backrest Release, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker pin, for example.

-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fasten the front seat on the : VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Remove the backrest release trim. Refer to BACKREST RELEASE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the backrest seat cover and cushion. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Sport Seat:

-- Remove the mount -1- for the backrest release trim.

-- To do so release the mount at the catches on the bracket -2- with a screwdriver.

-- Guide out the pull strap and remove the mount.

-- Disengage the support bracket -2- from the bracket and disengage the pull strap on the release cable and remove.

-- To remove the bracket -3-, remove the backrest release expanding rivet -1- and bolt -4- and remove the bracket.

-- Disengage the support bracket -2- from the bracket and disengage the pull strap on the release cable and remove.

-- To remove the bracket -3-, remove the backrest release expanding rivet -1- and remove the bracket.

NOTE:

To remove and Install the release cable the spring mat/lumbar support/lumbar support air cushion must not be removed.

-- Disengage the release cable -2- for the pull strap.

-- Unclip the release cable bracket -1- from the backrest frame.

-- To do so push down the tabs -3- alternating from side to side with a screwdriver and at the same time press the release cable forward in the direction of the -arrow-.

-- Guide out the release cable through the mount opening in the backrest frame.

-- Using pliers disengage the eye -2- on the pin -1- for the backrest release.

WARNING:

Wear protective eyewear!

-- Drill out the rivet -4- and remove the bracket from the backrest frame.

-- Repeat the process on the opposite side.

-- Separate the cable tie and remove the release cables -3- from the backrest frame.
