Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

-- Thoroughly clean the contact surfaces on the A/C compressor and bracket.

-- Insert the alignment sleeves -arrows- into the A/C compressor.

NOTE:

Make sure the alignment sleeves are seated correctly and the contact surfaces are clean. Incorrectly installed alignment sleeves and dirty or damaged contact surfaces can cause alignment irregularities between the A/C compressor and engine. Alignment irregularities over operating time cause damage to the A/C compressor.

If the A/C compressor is replaced due to certain complaints (for example, internal damage), the refrigerant circuit must be cleaned. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit (Refrigerant R134a Servicing, Working with A/C Service Station) or REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CLEANING .

There is an unspecified amount of refrigerant oil in the removed A/C compressor. Therefore observe the information on replacing the A/C compressor. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit Components, Replacing or COMPONENTS, REPLACING .

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the A/C compressor.

  • Refrigerant oil may accumulate in the compression chamber of the removed A/C compressor depending on how it was stored.
  • Turn the A/C compressor 10 times by hand before installing the ribbed belt after installing a new A/C compressor or filling with fresh refrigerant oil in order to avoid damaging the A/C compressor when using it for the first time.

-- Install the A/C compressor on the bracket. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING ON BRACKET .

-- Attach the refrigerant lines to the A/C compressor. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING TO A/C COMPRESSOR .

-- Evacuate and charge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit (Refrigerant R134a Servicing, Refrigerant Circuit, Working with A/C Service Station) or Working with A/C Service Station (1 Of 2) / Working with A/C Service Station (2 Of 2) .

-- Operate the A/C system after charging the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, STARTING AFTER CHARGING REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Check the DTC memory and erase any displayed entries using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the"Guided Fault Finding"  function.

-- Read the information for starting the A/C system after installing the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, GENERAL INFORMATION or A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING . After recharging, before activating the A/C system.
