Transmission Fluid, Draining And Filling
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Refer to TOOLS FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE
Risk of Injury Due to the Radiator Fan Turning on Automatically.
- Maintain distance to the fan when working near the radiator.
Conditions
- Move the vehicle onto a 4-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
- Selector lever in "P".
- The parking brake button is pressed to activate the electro-mechanical parking brake.
- The engine is off.
- Noise insulation removed. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
- The transmission fluid filter must always be replaced when changing the transmission fluid.
Transmission Fluid, Draining
-- Replace the transmission fluid filter. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID FILTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Place the : SMN372500 underneath.
Risk of injury to the eyes and hands by escaping oil.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear acid-resistant safety gloves.
-- Remove the drain and check plug -1-.
-- Remove the overflow pipe -3- from the drain and check plug hole.
-- Drain any remaining transmission fluid.
-- Reinstall the overflow pipe.
Transmission Fluid, Filling
-- Shake the container before opening.
-- Attach the transmission fluid container to the : VAS6262A .
-- Install the : VAS6262A into the opening for the drain and check plug -arrow 1- hand-tight.
-- Hold the container with the : VAS6262A as high as possible over the transmission and fill the transmission with approximately 5.2 liters (5.5 qts) of transmission fluid.
-- Shift the selector lever into "P" and push the parking brake button to activate the electro-mechanical parking brake.
-- Press the brake pedal and hold it down.
-- Start the engine and let it run in idle.
-- With the brake pressed, shift through all selector lever positions "P, R, N, D/S" at idle, retaining each position for at least 3 seconds.
-- Move the selector lever into "P" position.
-- Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
