Engine And Transmission, Separating
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine Sling:2024A
- Lifting Eyebolt:3368
- Shop Crane:VAS6100
- Hose Clip Pliers:VAS6362
- Dual Clutch Lifting Device:T40123A
Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and mounted on the engine bracket.
-- Remove the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, REMOVING .
-- Remove the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Loosen the hose clamp -2-.
-- Remove the nut -3- and remove the air duct pipe -1-.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and free up the bracket -1- with the wiring harness.
There is a risk of destroying the control module (Mechatronic) with electrostatic discharge.
- Do not touch connector terminals in the transmission connector with hands.
-- To discharge static electricity, touch vehicle ground with hand (without gloves).
-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the Dual-Clutch Transmission Mechatronic -J743- by turning the twist lock counter-clockwise -arrow-.
-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses.
-- Free up the breather hose -1-.
-- Remove the transmission fluid filter. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID FILTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the eyelet for the :T40123A and install it in all the way in the lower threaded hole for the starter bolt.
-- Secure the :3368 with two lock nuts -1- on the transmission housing hole.
-- Engage the : 2024A on both eyes and on the :VAS6100 as shown.
- To be aligned to the center of gravity of the transmission, the hole rails of the lifting hook must be inserted as shown.
Risk of accident due to loose engine support bridge components.
- Secure the mounting hooks and pins on the engine support bridge using securing pins -arrows-.
-- Remove the bolts -1 to 8- for the transmission/engine connection.
-- Remove the transmission from the engine.
