Overview - Oil Pan/Oil Pump

If large quantities of metal shavings or abraded material are found in the engine oil while servicing the engine, the oil passages must be carefully cleaned to prevent subsequent damage. Replace the additional oil spray jet, engine oil cooler and oil filter.
Oil spray jet and pressure relief valve. Refer to OVERVIEW - PISTONS AND CONNECTING ROD .

Oil Pan Lower Section
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Install with sealant. Refer to the Parts Information for the correct sealant.
Bolt
- 8 Nm
Bolt

Intake Tube
- For the oil pump
O-Ring
- Replace after removing.
Oil Pan Upper Section
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Install with sealant. Refer to the Parts Information.
Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 4.
Oil Pump
- Do not disassemble
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Perform the adaptation after removing or replacing. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester 01 - Engine electronics, functions , 01 - Chain length diagnostic adaptation
O-Ring
- Replace after removing.
Cylinder Block
Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 3.
- Replace after removing.
O-ring
- Replace after removing.
Check Valve
Bolt
- 9 Nm
Seal
- Replace after removing.
Oil Drain Plug
- 25 Nm
Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
- Replace after removing.
Bolt
- 9 Nm
Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-
- Removing and installing. Refer to Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Seal
- Replace after removing.

Oil Pan Lower Section - Tightening Specification and Sequence

Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.

-- Tighten the bolts in stages as follows:

Step	Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1.	Install by hand all the way
2.	3 Nm clockwise, starting with the bolt -arrow-
3.	45° clockwise additional turn, starting with the bolt -arrow-

Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.

-- Tighten the bolts in the steps shown in the sequence:

Step	Bolts	Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1.	-1 to 21-	Install by hand all the way
2.	-1 to 6-	20 Nm
3.	-1 to 6-	180° additional turn
4.	-7 to 21-	8 Nm
5.	-7 to 21-	90° additional turn

-- Tighten the bolts in the steps shown in the sequence:

Step	Bolts	Tightening Specification
1.	-1 through 3-	3 Nm
2.	-1 through 3-	20 Nm
