Camshaft, Removing And Installing: Installing

The bearing caps are marked to the camshaft housing to prevent them from being incorrectly installed.

-- Oil the camshaft running surfaces.

-- Bring the camshafts to the axial bearings -arrows- on the camshaft housing in the installation position.

• The compression ring ends -4- must face upward and must never face sideways.

-- Bring all bearing caps -2- into the installation position and at the same time pay attention to the allocation.

• Both adapter sleeves -1 and 3- must be inserted into the openings on each bearing cap.
• The adapter sleeve must engage in the hole in the camshaft housing.

-- Tighten all bearing caps.

-- Rotate the camshafts until the threaded holes -arrows- face upward.

-- Check if the camshafts still lie in the camshaft housing axial bearings. (Shown with the camshaft housing installed).

-- Install the : T40264/2A  and tighten the bolts -arrows- to 12 Nm. (Shown with the camshaft housing installed).

-- Install the camshaft housing. Refer to CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
