Parking Brake, Manually Loosening
NOTE:
Clean bolts before reusing.
Replace damaged bolts.
Always replace self-locking bolts.
NOTE:
Due to a mechanical or electrical fault, it may be required to mechanically loosen the parking brake in order to move the vehicle.
Procedure
WARNING:
Risk of accident!
- Before removing the Left Parking Brake Motor -V282- / Right Parking Brake Motor -V283-, the vehicle must be secured from rolling away.
-- Remove the rear wheel. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the parking brake motor from the brake caliper, while doing so turn the parking brake motor back and forth.
-- Using a TORX® insert E11 -A-, turn the driveshaft back until the brake is loosened.
NOTE:
Install the parking brake motor after successfully eliminating the malfunction. Refer to LEFT/RIGHT PARKING BRAKE MOTOR -V282- / -V283-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
