Overview - Front Brakes, TTRS And Ceramic Front Brakes

Applies to Steel and Ceramic Brakes

1. Brake Pad Springs
   • Replace when replacing the pads
   • Make sure they are seated correctly in the brake caliper
2. Bracket
   • For brake hose
3. Bolt
   • 8 Nm
     NOTE:

     Clean bolts before reusing.

     Replace damaged bolts.

     Always replace self-locking bolts.

4. Brake Hose
   • Tightening specification: brake hose to brake caliper, 15 Nm
   • Replace if damaged
   • Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. Make sure the brake hose is not pinched, bent, twisted or rubbing against the vehicle.
   • Make sure that tabs are properly seated in the grooves on the bracket.
     WARNING:

     • Do not damage the brake hose and brake line.
     • Do not bend the brake line past the specified form.
     • A damaged brake hose or a damaged or bent brake line must be replaced.
5. Spring
   • Replace if damaged
6. Bracket
   • For brake hose
7. Brake Line
   • Brake line to brake hose tightening specification: 14 Nm
     WARNING:

     • Do not damage the brake hose and brake line.
     • Do not bend the brake line past the specified form.
     • A damaged brake hose or a damaged or bent brake line must be replaced.
8. Spring
   • Replace if damaged
9. Bolt
   • 200 Nm
     NOTE:

     Clean bolts before reusing.

     Replace damaged bolts.

     Always replace self-locking bolts.

10. Wheel Bearing Housing
11. Bracket
    • For brake hose and wire
12. Bolt
    • 8 Nm
      NOTE:

      Clean bolts before reusing.

      Replace damaged bolts.

      Always replace self-locking bolts.

13. Brake Shield
    • Refer to BRAKE SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TTRS AND CERAMIC BRAKES 
14. Bolt
    • 12 Nm
      NOTE:

      Clean bolts before reusing.

      Replace damaged bolts.

      Always replace self-locking bolts.

15. Protective Cap
16. Bleed Screw
    • 10 Nm
    • Before installing, thinly coat with Assembly Paste:G 052 150 A2  .
17. Bolt
    • 5.0 Nm
      NOTE:

      Clean bolts before reusing.

      Replace damaged bolts.

      Always replace self-locking bolts.

18. Brake Rotor
    • Steel or ceramic brake rotor
    • Do not use excessive force to separate the brake rotor from the wheel hub. Use rust remover, if necessary, otherwise the brake rotor could be damaged.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TTRS AND CERAMIC BRAKES .
      CAUTION:

      Do not use excessive force to separate the brake rotor from the wheel hub. Use rust remover, if necessary, otherwise the brake rotor could be damaged.

      -- Check the wear specification of the brake rotors. Refer to BRAKES TECHNICAL DATA, FRONT BRAKES .

      Refer to CERAMIC BRAKE ROTOR, DETERMINING WEAR

      WARNING:

      If a brake rotor is damaged or worn, check the other brake rotors for damage and wear.

19. Brake Caliper
    • Allocation. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Must not be removed from the brake carrier. Refer to Fig 2.
    • Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FRONT BRAKES, TTRS AND CERAMIC BRAKES 
    • Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REPLACING TTRS AND CERAMIC BRAKES 
20. Brake Pads
    • Always replace on both axles.
    • Check the pad thickness. Refer to BRAKE PADS, CHECKING THICKNESS
    • Pay attention to the installation position: inner right brake pad with brake pad wear sensor
    • Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TTRS AND CERAMIC BRAKES 
      NOTE:

      Coat the brake pad plates with grease.

      Coat the guide pin with lithium grease.

      If the brake pads are being replaced with new pads, check the brake rotors for wear and damage.

      -- Check the wear specification of the brake rotors. Refer to BRAKES TECHNICAL DATA, FRONT BRAKES .

      Refer to CERAMIC BRAKE ROTOR, DETERMINING WEAR

21. Brake Pad Pins
    • Replace when replacing the pads
    • Note the installation position
    • Drive out from the outside toward the inside

Do Not Loosen the Brake Caliper/Brake Carrier and Tension Strut arrows Threaded Connection
