Convertible Top Headliner, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the front trim panel. Refer to CONVERTIBLE TOP DRIVE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Pay attention to the plastic washer -2- when removing.
-- Remove the bolts -1- for the convertible top headliner.
Pay attention to the washer -5- when removing.
-- Remove the bolt -4- for the guide strap -3- and headliner retaining strip -6-
-- Pry off the clips -2 and 3- around the drive motor.
-- Free up the headliner -1- on the front rail in direction of -arrow-.
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 3-.
-- Guide the tension cable out of the guiding eye -2-.
-- Free up the securing strap -4-.
-- Remove the bolts -1-.
-- Remove the headliner retaining strip -2- from "bow 1" -3-.
-- Repeat this step on "bow 2".
-- Release the retainer in direction of -arrow- and disengage the headliner retaining strip tab -2- on the rear roof frame -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -1-.
-- Remove the headliner retaining strip -2- from "bow 3" -3-.
Pay attention to the washer -2- when removing the bolt.
-- Remove the bolt -3- on the guide strap -1-.
-- Remove the upper luggage compartment trim panel. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANELS .
-- Remove the bolts -3 and 4-.
-- Open the retainers in direction of -arrows-.
-- Push the tensioning strap -2- through the opening -1- in the body into the convertible top compartment.
-- Remove the retainer -1- and remove the tensioning bracket release lever -3- at the mount -2- in direction of -arrow-.
- The operating lever must always face up.
-- Tape off the body to protect against paint damage.
- Apply at least 4 layers of tape -1- on top of each other.
-- Bring the convertible top into the "closed" position by hand.
-- Open the luggage compartment lid.
-- Pry the tensioning bracket -2- out of the convertible top compartment in direction of -arrow-.
-- Carefully remove the convertible top compartment trim panel -1- from the mount starting at the outside of the tensioning bracket -2-.
-- Close the luggage compartment lid.
-- Slide the tensioning bracket -1- slightly forward and then fold it up and secure it from closing unexpectedly.
-- Thread the Tensioning Strap:T10038 into the Hooks:T40306 and turn the quick-action clamps three times on the shaft.
-- Engage the front and rear Hooks:T40306 in the center of the convertible top edge and adjust the tension if necessary.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- on the right side.
-- Release the retainers -arrows- on the rear window frame -3- and remove the headliner -1-.
-- Free up the wiring harness -2- from the guide tabs.
-- Remove the bolt -5- from the tensioning bracket -3-.
-- Guide the headliner -1- out to the left side by guiding the molding -4- out of the opening -arrow- in the tensioning bracket.
