Hinges, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Loosen the front wheel housing liner at the rear and press it to the side. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connector -2- on the pedestrian protection trigger and free up. Pay attention to the safety precautions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
-- Remove the rear cover from the fender. Refer to FENDER REAR COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Mark the hinge pin for reinstallation.
Risk of injury!
- A second technician is needed during removal and installation to support and hold the hood.
-- Remove the gas-filled strut from the hinge. Refer to GAS-FILLED STRUT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Free up the wiring harness -2-.
-- Remove the bolt -6-.
-- Remove the bolts -5- with the Wrench - Door Adjusting:3320 and Wrench - Door Adjusting - Box Wrench:3320/2 .
-- Remove the nuts -3 and 4-.
-- Remove the hinge -1-.
-- The following components must also be removed if the hinge is being replaced:
- Pedestrian protection trigger. Refer to OVERVIEW - PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION
