OVERVIEW - VEHICLES WITH DYNAMIC STEERING, Vehicles with 6-Cylinder FSI Engine

Power steering pump is not designed to be serviced. If there are customer complaints, the cause must be determined using a pressure and leak test. If there is a malfunction, replace the power steering pump.

NOTE:

If there is no fluid in the reservoir, then the steering system must always be checked for leaks.

If there are leaks in the area of the line connections, the lines/connections must first be inspected for leaks, tightened as necessary and wiped dry.

Power steering pump is delivered without oil. Therefore, Hydraulic Fluid must be filled before installation and turned by hand. Otherwise, noises when driving or damage to power steering pump may occur.

Mounting Strap
- Attach to body, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
Reservoir
- Note the installed position, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
- Hose line installation position to the reservoir, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
Cap with Dip Stick
- Fluid level, checking, refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
Bolt
- 9 Nm

Spring Clamp
- Remove and install with Hose Clip Pliers VAG1921
Return Hose
- From the hydraulic oil cooler to the reservoir
- Mounting on longitudinal member, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES
- Note location on reservoir, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
- Note location on hydraulic oil cooler, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
Clip
- Not installed on this model
Clamp
- Tension using Hose Clip Pliers VAG1275A, refer to Figure
- After installation, make sure it is correcting assembled, refer to Installation position of clamp (See Fig 2).
- Always replace if removed
Bolt

Seal
- Always replace if removed
Return Line
- From the power steering gear to the hydraulic oil cooler
  CAUTION:
  - Insert the return line completely when installing.
- Mounting on the subframe, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
- Note location on hydraulic oil cooler, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
Hydraulic Fluid Cooler
- Clipped to the refrigerant condenser, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
- Removing and installing, refer to HYDRAULIC OIL COOLER, VEHICLES WITH DYNAMIC STEERING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Power Steering Gear
- Allocation, refer to parts.
- Removing and installing, refer to HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Pressure Line
- From the power steering pump to the power steering gear
  CAUTION:
  - Insert the pressure line completely when installing.
- Note the installation position: the angle between the line connection and the power steering pump axle must be approximately 59°.
- Mounting on crossbrace, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
- Wire connection installation location, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
Rubber Bushing
- 6 Nm

Pressure Line
- From the power steering pump to the power steering gear
  CAUTION:
  - Insert the pressure line completely when installing.

- Wire connection installation location, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
- Mounting on engine mount, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
Return Line
- From the power steering gear to the hydraulic oil cooler
- Mounting on the subframe, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .
- Note location on hydraulic oil cooler, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
- Wire connection installation location, refer to OVERVIEW - LINES AND HOSES .

Power Steering Pump -V119-
- With power steering pump regulator valve
- The pump and control valve are a single component and are replaced together.
- Allocation, refer to parts.
- Fill with Hydraulic Fluid before installing
- Delivery pressure, checking, refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, CHECKING DELIVERY PRESSURE .
- Removing and installing, refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Suction Hose
- Note location on reservoir, refer to HOSE LINE TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLATION POSITION .
- Note power steering pump location, refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Installation Position Of Clamp

-- Close the clamp completely using the Hose Clip Pliers VAG1275A.

Do not exceed dimension -A- by 1 mm. If necessary, tighten the clamp with Hose Clip Pliers VAG1275A.
