DTC P0AFC-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Sensor Module [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGCT VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 10 .
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P10-3 (IGCT) - P10-6 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Battery Smart Unit)
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the service grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    8. Install the luggage compartment front trim cover.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   3 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GND - BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] - Step 10 .
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P10-6 (GND) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Battery Smart Unit)
    4. Install the luggage compartment front trim cover.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND - BODY GROUND) 

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATT VL SSR FUSE - BATTERY SMART UNIT) 

  3. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2013 - ]
