Camshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Dial Gauge Holder :VW387 
• Dial Gauge - 0-10 mm :VAS6079 

-- Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place the camshaft to be checked into the camshaft housing.

-- Secure the :VAS6079  with the :VW387  on the camshaft housing.

-- Press the camshaft against the dial gauge by hand.

-- Set dial gauge to "0".

-- Press camshaft off dial gauge and read the value:

• Axial clearance: 0.100 to 0.191 mm.
