Right Timing Chain Cover, Removing And Installing: Installing

NOTE:

Replace The O-Rings.

-- Remove old sealant form the grooves in the timing chain cover as well as from the sealing surfaces.

CAUTION:

Risk Of Contaminating The Lubricating System.

  • Cover open parts of engine.
WARNING:

Danger Of Eye Injury.

  • Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove Any Remaining Sealant On The Timing Chain Cover And Cylinder Head Using, For Example, A Rotating Plastic Brush.

-- Clean the sealing surfaces. They must be free of oil and grease.

NOTE:

Note The Expiration Date Of The Sealing Compound.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: about 2 mm).

-- Drive the right coolant intermediate pipe -2- out of the right timing chain cover with a drift.

-- Insert O-rings -1- on the coolant intermediate pipe -2-.

-- Insert the coolant intermediate pipe into the right timing chain cover.

CAUTION:

The Lubrication System Could Be Plugged With Excess Sealant.

  • Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.

-- Apply a sealant bead -arrow- to the clean sealing surfaces of the right timing chain cover as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:

The Timing Chain Cover Must Be Installed Within 5 Minutes After Applying The Sealant

-- Install the right timing chain cover with the bracket -arrow- and tighten the bolts. Refer to Figure.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note The Following: 

-- Install the right AIR combination valve. Refer to RIGHT COMBINATION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, WITHOUT VACUUM CONTROL .

-- Installing the coolant connecting pieces. Refer to COOLANT CONNECTIONS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install right coolant pipe. Refer to RIGHT COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the right catalytic converter: Vehicles with manual transmission. Refer to RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL TRANSMISSION , vehicles with automatic transmission. Refer to RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the right front muffler. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the Heated Oxygen Sensor -G39-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR -G39- /OXYGEN SENSOR AFTER THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER -G130-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CYLINDER BANK 1 .

-- Install the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to LOCK CARRIER .

-- Install the tower brace. Refer to TOWER BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the vacuum pump. Refer to VACUUM PUMP .
