Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required

Hand Vacuum Pump :VAS6213

Test Conditions:

The hose from the turbocharger must have flow to the vacuum diaphragm via the Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve -N75-.
Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve -N75- OK

Preliminary Work May Be Required Depending On The Model. Refer To TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - [FOR ENGINE CODES : CABB, CABA, CABD, CAEA, CAEB, CDHB, CDNB, CDNC, CDHA, CDZA, CADA, CCUA, CFKA, CPMA, CAED, CPMB, CHJA, CPEA] .

-- Remove The Engine Cover. Refer To ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Connect The :VAS6213 To The Vacuum Diaphragm -arrow-.

-- Set the slide ring -1- on :VAS6213 to position -B- for "pressure".

CAUTION:

- Never set the test pressure specified.

-- Operate the :VAS6213 several times and observe the linkage.

The linkage -A- must move approximately 300 mbar (4.35 psi) and be at approximately 700 mbar (10.15 psi) at end position.

The linkage stroke is approximately 10 mm.

NOTE:

If pressure cannot be raised using the :VAS6213 or pressure drops immediately, check the :VAS6213 and connecting hoses for leaks.

If no fault is found with the :VAS6213 and the connecting hoses:

In vehicles with a 1.8L Engine , replace the vacuum diaphragm. Refer To TURBOCHARGER VACUUM DIAPHRAGM, REPLACING .
On vehicles with a 2.0L Engine , replace the turbocharger. Refer To TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
