Needle Bearing In Drive Plate, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Press Plate VW402
• Press Piece - 31.5 mm VW418A
• Press Piece - 28x100mm VW421
• Bearing Installer - Multiple Use 40-103

Procedure

• The transmission is removed. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 0B4, or TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 0B5 .

-- Remove the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- To remove and install, place the Bearing Installer - Multiple Use 40-103 under the drive plate.

-- Press out the needle bearing using the Press Piece - 28x100mm VW421 and shop press.

• The smaller diameter of the Press Piece - 28x100mm VW421 faces the drive plate.

-- Carefully press the needle bearing in as far as the stop using the Press Piece - 31.5mm VW418A and shop press.

• Installed position: the closed side of the needle bearing faces the engine.

-- Install the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
