Front Seat, Removing And Installing, Manual/Power: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Push the headrest into the lowest position.
-- Move the front seat all the way forward and up.
-- Remove the rear bolts -1- from the seat rail.
-- Move the front seat all the way to the rear and then into its lowest position.
-- Remove front bolts -2- from the seat rail.
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable when the ignition is turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Tilt the front seat rearward.
The connector station is located in the vehicle floor side sill under the front seat area.
-- Remove the expanding clip -2- and fold up the section of the carpet -1-.
-- Unclip the cable holder -3-.

-- Remove the connectors in the specified order from the connector station to do this release the retaining tabs:
7 - Power Supply
6 - Versions with Heated Seats
5 - Thorax airbag
4 - Seat Belt Latch
Connector assignment. Refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
-- Connect the Airbag Lockout Adapter : VAS 6282 to the thorax airbag harness connector. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING .
-- To protect the sill panel before prying out the front seat, attach the Universal Vehicle Protector: VAS 871 001 as shown.
- A second technician is needed to remove the front seat.
-- Remove the front seat from the vehicle with a second technician.
