Overview - Telephone, AUDI Phone Box (9ZE)
The Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794- is installed with the Telephone Microphone -R38- and is used for hands-free calling.
Operation is performed via the Multimedia System Control Head -E380- or via the Cellular Telephone -R54-.
The Cellular Telephone -R54- is connected via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth Antenna -R152- is installed in the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-.
The Telephone Baseplate -R126- (Audi phone box) is installed in the center console with a pairing antenna. From MY 2017, the Telephone Baseplate -R126- is also equipped with a module for wireless charging of the corresponding Cellular Telephone -R54-.
The Telephone Antenna -R65- is connected through the Cellular Telephone Amplifier -R86- to the Telephone Baseplate -R126-.

- The Telephone Antenna -R65- is installed in the Roof Antenna -R216- /under the rear bumper cover on the right side/in the convertible top compartment cover (depending on the model and equipment)
- No LTE antennas (LTE Antenna 1 -R297- /LTE Antenna 2 -R306-) are installed
Audi phone box (9ZE) with Audi connect (EL3/EL5):
- The Telephone Antenna -R65- is installed in the Roof Antenna -R216- /under the rear bumper cover on the right side/in the convertible top compartment cover (depending on the model and equipment)
- The LTE Antenna 1 -R297- is installed under the left rear bumper cover.
- The LTE Antenna 2 -R306- is installed under the rear bumper cover on the right side/in the right instrument panel (depending on the equipment)

Fault Finding is performed using the "Guided Fault Finding" on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

Notes on Bluetooth technology
A standardized radio connection is used for data transfer between the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794- and Cellular Telephone -R54- - Bluetooth Technology.
An additional transmitter/receiver unit is installed in the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-. A Bluetooth Antenna -R152- connects the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794- and Cellular Telephone -R54- so that the Cellular Telephone -R54- can be operated wirelessly (no wire connection).
The range of the radio connection is approximately 10 m (32.8 feet).
