Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

During installation, install all cable ties back at the same position.

-- Remove the connector -2- from the bracket, disconnect it and free up the wires.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and the screw-type clamp.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 3-.

NOTE:

The installation position is shown in the illustration with the engine removed for clarity.

-- If equipped, remove the noise insulation -1-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the front tunnel brace -1-. Refer to UNDERBODY TRIM PANEL .

AWD Vehicles:

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and remove the right drive axle heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor after Catalytic Converter -G130-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.

-- Mark the position of flexible disc and the bevel box flange to each other for reinstallation.

-- Using a lever to counterhold the triangular flange, remove the driveshaft from the bevel box -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolts -2 and 3-.

-- Press the engine/transmission assembly slightly forward (toward the front end) and remove the driveshaft from the bevel box.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the gasket -arrow- in the driveshaft flange.

Press driveshaft horizontally as far back and to the left side of the vehicle as possible.

NOTE:

If the gasket is damaged, the driveshaft must be replaced.

-- Loosen the clamping sleeve -arrow- and push it toward the rear.
