Vehicles With Dual-Clutch Transmission 0D9:
-- Remove the selector lever cable from the transmission and pull it out of the cable bracket. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM [For transmission(s) 0GC]SELECTOR MECHANISM [For transmission(s) 0D9] .
-- Disconnect the connector -2-.
-- Push the B+ terminal protector -1- back and disconnect the B+ wire from the starter solenoid switch.
-- Remove the nut -3- and remove the ground wire.
Depending on the version, the ground wire is secured on the starter bolt.
There is a risk of destroying the control module (Mechatronic) with static discharge.
- Do not touch connector terminals in the transmission connector with hands.
-- To discharge static electricity, touch a ground by hand (without gloves).
-- Disconnect the connector -4- for the Dual-Clutch Transmission Mechatronic -J743-, by turning the twist lock counter-clockwise.
-- Remove the bolts -2- for the transmission (about two turns).
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Loosen the bolts -arrows- for the engine mount approximately two turns.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1-, remove the air duct hose from the charge air cooler.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the radiator fan, to do this push the clip in direction of -arrow A- and push the retainer downward.
-- Press the left and right fan shroud locking tabs at the same time in direction of -arrow B- and remove the fan shroud downward from the radiator.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -2-.
-- Free up the coolant hose -3-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- on the Charge Air Pressure Sensor -G31-.
-- Remove the right air duct pipe.
Vehicles with Parking Heater:
-- Loosen the clamp -1-, remove the bolt -2- and remove the parking heater muffler.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
Risk of destroying by reversing the running direction on a used ribbed belt.
Before removing the ribbed belt, mark the running direction with chalk or a felt-tip pen for reinstallation.
-- Pivot the tensioner clockwise in direction of -arrow- to release the tension on the ribbed belt.
-- Remove the ribbed belt from the A/C compressor ribbed belt pulley and release the tension on the tensioner.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the A/C Compressor Regulator Valve -N280-.
Refrigerant can cause serious injury.
- Do not open the A/C system refrigerant circuit.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
There is a risk of damaging the A/C compressor, the refrigerant lines and hoses.
- Do not bend, twist or stretch the refrigerant lines and hoses.
-- Remove the A/C compressor from the bracket with the refrigerant hoses connected and tie up to the right side.
AWD Vehicles:
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the right drive axle heat shield.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.
-- Mark the position of flexible disc and the bevel box flange to each other for reinstallation.
-- Using a lever to counterhold the triangular flange, remove the driveshaft from the bevel box -arrows-.
-- Press the engine/transmission assembly slightly forward (toward the front end) and remove the driveshaft from the bevel box.
Risk of damaging the gasket -arrow- in the driveshaft flange.
- Press driveshaft horizontally as far back and to the left side of the vehicle as possible.
If the gasket is damaged, the driveshaft must be replaced.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Remove the left and right drive axles -arrow- from the flange shafts. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .
-- Tie up the drive axles to the rear.
Be careful not to damage the protective coating on the drive axle.
-- Loosen the clamping sleeve -arrow- and push it toward the rear.
-- Remove the catalytic converter with the front exhaust pipe.
-- Remove bolt -arrow- and push the bracket for the wiring harness to the side.
-- Attach the :T10359/3 on the :T10359A , as shown.
-- Tighten the :T10359/2 onto the engine bracket with the securing element -1- from the :3282 .
-- If necessary remove the After-Run Coolant Pump V51. Refer to After-Run Coolant Pump -V51-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - LAYING UNDERNEATH .
-- Attach the :T10359A with the bolt -1- to 20 Nm on the cylinder block and secure with the support element -2- from the :3282 .
-- Place the :VAG1383A on the :T10359A and raise the engine/transmission assembly slightly.
-- Completely remove the engine mount bolts -arrows-.
-- Completely remove the transmission mount bolts -arrows- completely.
Depending on the transmission 2 or 3 bolts.
Risk of damaging the vacuum lines or wires as well as the engine compartment.
- Make sure all the vacuum lines or wires between the engine, the transmission and the vehicle body are loosened.
- Carefully lower and guide the engine/transmission assembly out of the engine compartment.
-- Lower the engine/transmission assembly.
