Engine, Installing: Procedure: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Audi A3 and 2015 Audi A3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

NOTE:

Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

Replace the self-locking nuts and bolts, gaskets, seals and O-rings.

The hose connections as well as air duct pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that match the ones used in series production. Refer to the Parts information.

During installation, install all cable ties back at the same position.

-- Attach the transmission to the engine. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0GC]TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0D9] .

-- Lift the engine/transmission assembly using the :T10359A  .

-- Guide the engine/transmission assembly into the body.

-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the engine mount by hand all the way.

NOTE:

The illustration shows a vehicle with dual-clutch transmission 0CW.

-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the transmission mount -1- by hand all the way.

NOTE:

Only tighten the bolts to the final specification when adjusting the subframe mount. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT .

-- Remove the :T10359A  from the engine.

-- Install the drive axles. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .

Vehicles with Manual Transmission:

-- Install the cables with the cable bracket. Refer to GEARSHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .

Vehicles with Manual Transmission 02S:

-- Install the clutch slave cylinder. Refer to CLUTCH [For transmission(s) 0GC]CLUTCH [For transmission(s) 0D9] .

Vehicles with Manual Transmission 02Q:

-- Install the hose/line assembly on the bleeder. Refer to CLUTCH [For transmission(s) 0GC]CLUTCH [For transmission(s) 0D9] .

Vehicles with Dual-Clutch Transmission:

-- Install the gearshift lever cable and adjust. Refer to GEARSHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .

AWD Vehicles:

-- Attach the driveshaft to the bevel box. Refer to appropriate service information. .

-- Install the drive axle heat shield. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .

Continuation for All Vehicles:

-- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR .

-- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE .

-- Install the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME .

-- Adjust the subframe mount. Refer to SUBFRAME MOUNT, ADJUSTING .

-- Electrical connections and routing. Refer to RELAY CARRIERS, FUSE PANELS AND E-BOXES and => Wiring Diagram.

-- Install the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY .

-- Install the coolant pipe. Refer to graphic below.

-- Connect the fuel line. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .

-- Install the catalytic converter. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the air duct pipes. Refer to OVERVIEW - CHARGE AIR SYSTEM .

-- Install the air filter housing and the air ducts. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the air duct hoses. Refer to CHARGE AIR SYSTEM .

-- Install the washer fluid reservoir. Refer to WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM .

-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER .

-- Check the oil level. Refer to appropriate service information.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of destroying the control modules due to excessive voltage.

  • Do not use a charger to jump start.

-- Attach the coolant hoses with the connector coupling to the heater core for the heater. Refer to graphic below.

-- Fill with coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING => Coolant, Filling .

NOTE:

Used coolant cannot be used again.

-- Adjust the chain length after replacing the engine. Select 01 - Chain Length Adaptation Diagnosis  in Guided Functions  . Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- The combustion misfire adaptation must be adapted after replacing the engine. Select 01 Reset Combustion Misfire Adaptation  in Guided Fault Finding  . Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
