Correcting The Valve Timing
-- If it is not possible to secure the camshaft hub, pull back the :T10490 until the opens the hole.
-- Turn the crankshaft opposite the direction of engine rotation just past "TDC".
-- Slowing turn the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation until the camshaft hub is secured.
-- Loosen the bolt on the camshaft toothed belt gear.
Procedure, if the :T10490 is Now Left of the Hole
-- Turn the crankshaft in direction of engine rotation, until the tip -arrow- on the crankshaft stop fits into the sealing flange.
-- Tighten the camshaft toothed belt gear to 20 Nm.
Procedure, if the :T10490 is Now Right of the Hole
-- Turn the crankshaft just a little opposite the direction of engine rotation.
-- Turn the crankshaft again in direction of engine rotation, until the tip on the crankshaft stop fits into the sealing flange.
-- Tighten the camshaft toothed belt gear bolt to 20 Nm.
continue if the valve timing is correct :
-- Remove the :3359 and :T10490 .
-- Turn the crankshaft two turns in direction of engine rotation until the crankshaft is just before "TDC" again.
-- Check the valve timing once again. Refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Never use the camshaft positioning tool as a counterholder.
-- If the camshaft driver can now be locked, tighten the camshaft toothed belt sprocket bolt -1- to the final tightening specification, to do so remove the : 3359 and counterhold the camshaft toothed belt sprocket using the :T10172A and :T10172/11 .
-- Tighten the nut -2- for the high pressure pump toothed belt sprocket to the final specification using the : T10051 . Refer to OVERVIEW - HIGH PRESSURE PUMP .
-- Check the valve timing again. Refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
