Pistons, Removing And Installing: Removing

The engine is secured to the :VAS6095 . Refer to ENGINE, SECURING ON Engine And Transmission Holder .

-- Remove the cylinder head. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the oil pump. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Mark the installed position and to which connecting rod bearing cap and cylinder and the connecting rod it belongs for installing again later -item 2- OVERVIEW - PISTONS AND CONNECTING RODS- List Item:Connecting Rod Bearing Cap.

-- Remove the connecting rod bearing cap.

-- Remove the piston and connecting rod upward.

TIP

Warm the piston to approximately 60° C (140° F) if it is difficult to move the piston pin.

-- Remove the locking ring from the eye of the piston bolt.

-- Remove the piston pin using the :VW222A .
