Overview - Fuel Injectors: Notes

NOTE:
When installing a new short block, check if a sticker is present on the cylinder head cover.
If a sticker with the following lettering is attached: Tensioning Claws Tightened To The Specified Tightening Specification , the tensioning claws have been tightened to the specified final tightening specification at the factory.
If no sticker is present when installing a new short engine, it is particularly important to tighten the fuel injector tensioning clamps to the previously mentioned tightening specification -Item 8) OVERVIEW - FUEL INJECTORS . Engine damage may occur if not observed.
- Seal
- Always replace if leaking. Refer to FUEL INJECTOR SEALS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- In the cylinder head cover
- Copper Washer
- Replace the copper ring seal during every assembly/disassembly procedure.
- O-ring
- Always replace after removing
- Injector
- Injector units and high pressure lines which have been removed and are being re-installed may only be installed back into the same cylinder.
- Replace the copper ring seal during every assembly/disassembly procedure.
- To remove rust particles on the fuel injector sealing surface, clean the fuel injector shaft in the cylinder head using the Cleaning Set:VAS6811 (always clean in the event of leaks).
- Removing and installing. Refer to FUEL INJECTORS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- O-ring
- Always replace after removing
- Fuel Return Line
- To the fuel tank
- Must not be bent, damaged or plugged
- Do not disassemble
- Bleeding and filling the fuel system after exchanging. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM, FILLING/BLEEDING .
- Tension Clamp
- Mark fuel injector and tension bracket with paint to each other and to the cylinder for reinstallation, when installing pay attention to the markings.
- The tensioning claws can be reused, when new fuel injectors are installed.
- Installed position. Refer to Figure
- Bolt
- 8 Nm + 270° (3 x 90° additional turn)
- Always replace
- Initial torque 2 Nm and install the high pressure lines union nuts by hand and align the fuel injectors.

- High Pressure Line
- 28 Nm
- Between the high pressure reservoir and the fuel injectors
- Read and follow all instructions on installing the high pressure lines. Refer to HIGH PRESSURE LINES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Install without tension
- Attach the balance weight. Refer to Figure.
- Grommet
- In the cylinder head cover
- Always replace if damaged
