Open Fuel Injectors, Checking: Procedure

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Clean all connections, for example with commercially available detergent, before removing.

-- Dry all cleaned components.

-- Check one cylinder after another.

Begin With Cylinder 1. 

-- Remove the noise insulation.

-- Pull the releases up in direction of -arrows- and remove the return line connection -1- on the fuel injectors.

-- Clean the adapter from the :VAS6684  and blow it out using compressed air.

-- Connect the clean adapter to the return connection on the fuel injector that is being checked.

-- A vacuum pressure of -500 mbar (-7.25 psi) is applied using the :VAS6213  .

Fuel injectors are OK when the pressure remains constant for about 30 seconds.

If the injectors are faulty, then the pressure will drop to 0 bar again within 2 to 3 seconds.

Repeat the test if necessary. Watch the :VAS6213  for a loss of pressure.

-- Replace any defective fuel injectors. Refer to FUEL INJECTORS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
