Emissions Control Module, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow the safety precautions when working on the exhaust system. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING ON EXHAUST SYSTEM .
-- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to FRONT EXHAUST PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove The Subframe With The Steering Gear. Refer to SUBFRAME WITH STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING WITHOUT COOLING SYSTEM CHARGE KIT - ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP .
-- Remove the EGR cooler. Refer to EGR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Release and disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Release the retainers with a screwdriver -arrow- and move the coolant expansion tank to the side.
-- Remove the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2 -G448-. Refer to EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR 2 -G448-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 -G495- and Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 -G648-. Refer to EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR 3 -G495- /EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR 4 -G648-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor -G39-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR -G39-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- If equipped, remove the Oxygen Sensor After Catalytic Converter -G130-. Refer to OXYGEN SENSOR AFTER THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER -G130-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Open the heat shield boot -1-.
-- Disconnect the connectors -3, 4 and 5-.
-- Remove the Differential Pressure Sensor -G505- and Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 -G450- and then place them on the engine with the lines still attached.
Vehicles With SCR System:
-- Remove the connector -4- from the bracket, disconnect it, and free up the wire.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and remove clamp.
-- Free up the coolant hoses -3- and the reducing agent delivery line -2-.
-- Remove the coolant hoses from the toothed belt guard.
-- Remove the Reducing Agent Injector -N474- and lay it to the right side with the lines connected.
Vehicles With Two Differential Pressure Lines:
-- Remove the bolt -3-.
-- Loosen the clamps -1- and remove the hoses.
-- Unclip the control lines -2- and remove with the differential pressure sensors.
Vehicles With One Differential Pressure Line:
-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- Open the hose clamp -A- and remove the hose.
-- Unclip the control lines -B- and remove with the differential pressure sensor.
Vehicles With Coolant Pipe Above Emissions Control Module
-- Open the hose clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.
-- Remove the bolt -2- and -3- and pivot the coolant line to the side.
Vehicles With Parking Heater:
-- Lift the clamps -1-, loosen the hose clamp -2- and remove the coolant hoses.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the coolant pipes.
AWD Vehicles:
-- Remove The Right Drive Axle From The Bevel Box And Tie It Up Toward The Rear. Refer to OVERVIEW - DRIVE AXLE (VARIETY) / OVERVIEW - DRIVE AXLE / DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Be careful not to damage the protective coating on the drive axle.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.
-- Mark the position of flexible disc and the bevel box flange to each other for reinstallation.
-- Using a lever to counterhold the triangular flange, remove the drive axle from the bevel box -arrows-.
-- Press the engine/transmission assembly slightly forward (toward the front end) and remove the drive axle from the bevel box.
- Risk of damaging the seal -arrow- in the drive axle flange.
- Press drive axle horizontally as far back and to the left side of the vehicle as possible.
- If the seal in the flange is damaged the drive axle must be replaced.
-- Tie up the drive axle to the left side of the vehicle.
Continuation For All Vehicles:
-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- If equipped, remove the noise insulation over the fuel injectors.
-- Position the :T10511 on the bolt heads of the cylinder head cover.
-- Engage the retaining bracket -arrow- in the emissions control module strap.
-- Open the screw-type clamp -1- and position on the emissions control module entrance funnel.
-- Remove the rest of the bolts in the order -4, 3 and 2-.
-- Pivot the lower emissions control module away from the engine and push upward.
-- Pull the brackets from the emissions control module mounting strap and remove the emissions control module downward.
