Camshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Dial Gauge Holder VW387
- Dial Gauge - 0-10mm VAS6079
Procedure
-- Remove the camshaft housing, refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Place the camshaft to be checked into the camshaft housing.
-- Secure the Dial Gauge - 0-10mm VAS6079 with the Dial Gauge Holder VW387 on the camshaft housing.
-- Press the camshaft against the dial gauge by hand.
-- Set dial gauge to "0".
-- Press camshaft off dial gauge and read the value:
- Axial clearance: 0.100 to 0.191 mm.
